FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia - A duo of Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis players traveled to Mary Washington over the weekend to compete in the ITA Regional Tournament.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
Alexa Brewster, who competed in the Championship Singles Bracket, dropped her first match of the tournament 6-0, 6-1 to Tessa Trate of CNU. Brewster then dropped her next match in the consolation bracket 8-3 to her opponent from Johns Hopkins.
In the Singles Flight B2,
Christine Zalameda opened competition with an 8-4 win over Salisbury's Katherine Tamesis. In the semifinals round, Zalameda fell to Clara March Okuyama of Franklin & Marshall 8-5 knocking out the tournament.
In doubles action, Brewster and Zalameda lost their opening match to CNU's Trate and Yermal 8-3. The Marlins followed up with an 8-0 win in the consolation bracket over Stevenson's duo of Emery and Nesbern to conclude the weekend.
