FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia- The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team fell to the Eagles from the University of Mary Washington 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground Athletic Complex in Fredericksburg, VA.

FIRST HALF

• Mary Washington struck early finding their first goal of the opening quarter about four minutes into the action. The Eagles followed with a second goal just over a minute later and scored their third goal of the opening quarter with under a minute left in the first 15 minutes. 
• UMW scored another three goals in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 6-0 lead. 

SECOND HALF

• The Marlins held the Eagles to just one goal in the third quarter, while Mary Washington added two more in the fourth to claim a 9-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan. 

The field hockey team returns to action again on Wednesday, Sept. 22, when they travel to Salisbury, MD, to face the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University. Game time is set for 6 PM at the Sea Gull Stadium.
