VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team battled to a 6-3 loss to Methodist University this afternoon at the Everett Tennis Center and Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.  Shortly following doubles action, rain and lightning moved into the area forcing the match to be moved indoors on the campus of Old Dominion University.  Before the rain, the Marlins duo of Mitchell Perry and Felix Bevc continued their impressive play at the top doubles spot by taking down Patrick Newsome and Jordan Theron, 8-6.  Methodist captured #2 and #3 doubles putting them up 2-1 heading into singles.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

• Mitchell Perry gave the Marlins their 2nd team point by taking down Henry Murray 6-1, 6-3 at #2 singles.

• Henry West ripped off a 6-3 first set from Coleman Baker at #4 singles before moving inside.  Once inside, Baker took the 2nd set 6-1 forcing a deciding set.  West held at 4-4 in the 3rd set and broke serve at 5-4 giving him the 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win over the former #2 singles player for the Monarchs.

• Michael Portera also took the first set from his opponent at #5 singles before falling in 3 sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

• Felix Bevc dropped a competitive 6-3, 6-3 decision to Jordan Theron at the top singles spot; Theron is undefeated at #1 singles this season for the Monarch.
