FOREST, Virginia - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference release the seeding and pairings for the 2020-21 ODAC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament which begins this weekend. The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan were seeded No. 2 behind the No. 1 Generals of Washington and Lee who went undefeated in conference action.
VWU went 8-9 overall playing challenging out of conference opponents such as CNU, Salisbury, Norfolk State and others, while holding a conference mark of 8-1 falling only to W&L.
Leading the way playing No. 1 singles against conference opponents has been
Mitchell Perry with
Felix Bevc playing at No. 2. Perry overall has gone 7-2 at No. 1 falling to the W&L No. 1 and Bridgewater's No. 1. Bevc is 9-1 at No. 2 with his only loss against W&L as a retirement due to injury.
Michael Portera also holds a 7-2 conference record playing primarily at No. 5 with one win coming at No. 4 as well.
Henry West has a conference mark of 6-4 this season sharing time at No. 3 and 4, while
Anthony Wilson, who has also been sharing time at No. 3 and 4, is 5-5.
Connor Cummings has earned a 3-4 mark playing mainly at No. 6 singles for the Marlins.
In doubles action the duo of Bevc and Perry is 8-2 in the No. 1 spot while West and Wilson also hold an 8-2 mark in the No. 2 doubles spot. Portera and Cummings have gone 7-2 in doubles No. 3.
The No. 2 seeded Marlins will host the No. 7 seeded Hornets of Shenandoah University on Sunday May 2 at 2 PM. When these two teams met earlier in the season, the Marlins defeated the Hornets 9-0 on March 27 after playing at the University of Richmond the day before.
