BRIDGEWATER, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams finished strong at the 2021 Dr. Harry M. "Doc" Jopson Invitational hosted by the Eagles of Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA.
MEET INFORMATION
The meet was the second outdoor meet for the Marlins of the 2021 season and the first time back on the track since March 13.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
Jaylyn Lane highlighted the day for the Marlins with a first place finish in the 4x400M Relay (4:28.94) with teammates Niya Crocker, Casey Stedman, and Shirell Washington. The same group took second in the 4x100M Relay with a time of 51.38 second. Lane also broke the VWU Outdoor Triple Jump Record of 11.06M set by Rolanda Taylor at the 2018 ODAC Outdoor Championships claiming first in the event and took third in the long jump with a 5.19M mark.
Washington, in addition to finishing first in the 4x400, placed fifth in the 100M dash and took first in the women's 100M hurdles finishing in 15.50 seconds.

The Marlins return to action on next weekend, April 3, when they host their first meet at the Betty S. Rogers Track & Field Complex in Virginia Beach, VA.
