ASHLAND, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team fell to the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College 3-1 on Friday evening in ODAC competition in Ashland, VA.

FIRST QUARTER

• Virginia Wesleyan got things going early as Raquel Kelly found the back of the goal 1:46 into the start of the contest. 
• The Marlins held the Yellow Jackets to two shots the remainder of the first quarter and off the scoreboard thanks to a save by Maura Bridges.

SECOND QUARTER

• Randolph-Macon equalized the score in the 25th minute of action on a penalty stroke sending the teams into halftime with the score knotted at one-one.

THIRD QUARTER

• RMC took the lead in the third quarter seven minutes into the return to play to go up 2-1.
• The Yellow Jackets grew their lead to two goals after Maria-Teresa Ambrogi-Torres added her second goal of the game in the 40th minute.
• VWU was held to one shot in the quarter as Hayden Thornbrugh saw her shot blocked by the Yellow Jackets.

FOURTH QUARTER

• VWU held RMC off the board but only got off one shot in the fourth quarter to fall to the Yellow Jackets 3-1.

The field hockey team returns to action again on Tuesday, March 30, when they host the Hornets from the University of Lynchburg in an ODAC matchup. The Hornets and Marlins will face off at 5 PM at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA.
