Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team fell in their season opener 1-0 to the Eagles of Bridgewater College on Sunday afternoon at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA. The Marlins move to 0-1-0 while the Eagles are 1-0-0.
GAME INFORMATION
The first half of the match saw the two teams go back and forth up and down the pitch with neither team finding the back of the net. The Marlins did manage to get 10 shots off with four coming on goal as the Bridgewater keeper made four saves.
After the halftime break the Eagles managed to find the game winning goal in the 67 minute off a shot by Hanna Randolph that found the back right corner of the net. Despite several attempts the Marlins could not counter and dropped their season opener one-nil to the Eagles.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Camryn Terry,
Sam Crawford,
Anna Pedicone, and
Caroline Smith who each got off two shots in the game.
Amruta Karkare (0-1-0) took her first loss of the season in goal while making two saves on the day.
BRIDGEWATER LEADERS
The Eagles were led by Cyan Coates with two shots in the game and one on goal. Hanna Randolph made her one shot of the day count scoring the lone goal of the match for the Eagles. Sydney Davis, the keeper for the Eagles, made eight saves in the contest while playing all 90 minutes of the game.

The Marlins return to action on next Sunday when they host the Maroons of Roanoke College in an ODAC contest at Foster Field in Virginia Beach, VA. Kick off between the Marlins and Maroons is set for 2 PM.
