Hollins got off to an early start scoring the first eight points of the game before the Marlins got on the board courtesy of a jumper by
Olivia Winslow at the 6:44 mark. Hollins continued to extend their lead closing out the first quarter on an 8-4 run leading by ten, 16-6, heading into the second quarter.
The Marlins managed to score 14 points in the second ten minute period while Hollins added 26 points to their total, taking a 42-20 lead into the halftime break.
Virginia Wesleyan was held to just nine points in the third quarter with baskets scored by
Jessica Jennings and
Nat Collier while
Celeste Rucker (4) and
S'Zahria Jones (1) scored five points off free throws. Hollins increased their lead to 33 points holding the 62-29 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Jennings and
Jada Norman each scored five points off a three pointer and a jumper in the fourth quarter contributing to 10 of the teams 13 fourth quarter points. Winslow added a jumper and Rucker connected on another free throw for the remaining Marlin points as Hollins steamed on to win 91-42 over Virginia Wesleyan.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Jessica Jennings with 14 points and four steals.
Adaje Williams led the team with 11 rebounds while contributing six points.
HOLLINS LEADERS
Hollins had five players in double-digits led by Unoma Aguolu with 19 points and seven assists while Kayla Surles added 18 points of her own. Tia Tucker, Rebekah Fudnerburk, and Cabria Mutz each tallied 10 points a piece.

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team returns to action on Friday, December 10, when the Marlins return home to Virginia Beach, VA, to host Regent University in non-conference action. The Marlins and Royals are scheduled to tip off at 7 PM in TowneBank Arena.
