INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The NCAA Division III women's soccer bracket is set for the 2021 National Championship Tournament the ends with a champion being crowned in Greensboro, NC. The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan, who earned an automatic bid after winning the 2021 ODAC Championship, will travel to Ewing, NJ to compete on the campus of The College of New Jersey.
The ODAC champion Marlins (12-5-2) will face the Messiah University Falcons on Saturday, November 13, in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA National Championship Tournament as part of the TCNJ pod. The other two teams competing in the pod are TCNJ and Westfield State.
Virginia Wesleyan navigated its way through a challenging Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship tournament where they hosted and defeated Roanoke, Washington & Lee, and Lynchburg in order to obtain just the second conference tournament title in program history. The Marlins, while not receiving national rankings, were ranked No. 7 in Region VI according to the United Soccer Coaches Division III poll. VWU will be making their 13th NCAA Tournament appearance and fourth since 2016.
The winner of the Messiah/Virginia Wesleyan match will meet either TCNJ or Westfield State in the second round on Sunday.
Messiah at one point in the season was No. 1 in the country and head into the weekend with a record of 16-2-1 after clinching its 18th MAC Commonwealth title since 2000. The Falcons shut out York (Pa.) 3-0 on Saturday and will embark on their 21st NCAA Tournament Championship journey this coming weekend.
