VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's swim teams opened their season with a home dual against the Knights of Southern Virginia University on Friday evening, October 8. The Marlins men's team was outscored by the Knights 61-195, while the women recorded a total score of 116-146.

Five different Marlins recorded six event victories during the meet:
- First-year
A'Jay West touched first in the men's 200 yard IM in 2:07.56, breaking the previous school record by just over three seconds.
- First-year
Lauren Hendricks earned a victory in the women's 50 yard Backstroke with a time of 30.37. Junior teammate
Chloe Dewberry finished a close second in 30.55.
- First-year
Audrey Roberts led a Marlin sweep in the women's 50 yard Freestyle, finishing in 27.07. Junior teammate
Lizzy Ross notched a second-place finish in 27.32 and Dewberry rounded out the top-3 stopping the clock at 27.64.
- Hendricks teamed up with Roberts to go 1-2 in the women's 100 yard Freestyle. Hendricks' time of 56.63 lowers the school record in that event and Roberts swam a 1:00.88.
- First-year
Gaby Alvizo and Dewberry teamed up to finish 1-2 in the women's 100 yard Backstroke. Alvizo touched the wall in 1:07.10 and Dewberry finished at 1:07.13.
- Ross earned an event victory in the women's 50 yard Butterfly, going 29.01. Alvizo finished third in the event with a time of 29.23.

Kiera Doyle finished second in the women's 200 yard Medley Relay (2:02.66), while their teammates Hendricks, first-year
Abbi Colburn, Alvizo, and Roberts came in third (2:03.95).

Dana Smith earned three second place finishes in her individual events: the women's 200 yard IM (2:29.80), the women's 50 yard Breaststroke (35.68), and the women's 100 yard Breaststroke (1:17.97).
- Sophomore
Nathan Viricochea finished in third-place in the men's 500 yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 5:45.42.
- Molino recorded two top-3 individual finishes, touching second in the men's 100 yard Butterfly (56.70) and third in the men's 200 yard Freestyle (1:59.15).
- First-year
Brandon Bostic swam a 56.06 which was good enough to finish third in the men's 100 yard Freestyle.
- Strong earned a third place individual finish in the men's 100 yard Backstroke, stopping the clock at 1:00.60.
- West touched the wall at 1:11.04, which was good enough for third place in the men's 100 yard Breaststroke.
- Colburn recorded a second place finish in the women's 200 yard Freestyle, finishing in 2:19.72.
- Ross, Doyle, Colburn, and Roberts notched a second-place finish in the women's 200 yard Freestyle Relay with a time 1:51.61.
- Strong, Bukowski, sophomore captain
Stuart Reyes, and Molino touched the wall third in the men's 200 yard Freestyle Relay, stopping the clock at 1:38.12.
