FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team sent a couple of athletes to the 2021 Fall ITA Regional tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington from Oct. 1-3. First year

A pair of Marlins competed in the Championship singles bracket with
Felix Bevc and
Mitchell Perry representing VWU. Bevc in his opening match fell 6-0, 6-4 to John's Hopkins Rohan Reddy who had a No. 4 seeding. In the consolation bracket, Bevc won his next two matches to finish the weekend 2-1. Bevc defeated Bridgewater College's Gabriel Elder 6-0, 6-0, and Karten Laggerquist of Grove City College 6-2, 6-2. Perry went 1-1 on on the weekend in singles action defeating Shenandoah's Keith Orr in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 7-5) before falling to Averett University's Jorge Figueroa 6-3, 6-3.
In B2 singles
Timothy Tep dropped his opening match in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-2 to Noah Criss (SWAT). He then followed with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win in the consolation semis over WC's Brady Burns. In the consolation finals, Tep defeated Garrick Adams (DC) who withdrew.
Francis Cabaddu won his first two matches in the B3 singles flight before falling in the championship match in three sets. In the quarters, Cabaddu won in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 10-5, over F&M's Isaac Rockower. He followed in the semis with a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over CMU's Jaden D'Abreo, before falling to SWAT's Maxim Pogorelov 7-5, 4-6, 10-8, to finish second in the B3 singles flight.
In the championship doubles flight the duo of M. Perry/Bevc, ranked No. 9, fell to the pair of Jiang/Trevor 8-6.
Henry West and
Anthony Wilson fell 8-6 in the quarterfinal round of the B1 doubles flight to Grove City's Laggerquist/Talles. In the B2 doubles flight, the pair of
Cam Perry and
Sainandan Challagundla won their first patch 8-5 over Schuetz/Warren from LVC but fell in the quarters to Gruyon/Smith of WC 8-4.
