MURFREESBORO, North Carolina - The Marlins men's swim team battled tough against Division II opponent Chowan University, but ending up being defeated by the Hawks.

- First-year
A'Jay West was the lone Marlin to win an individual event, taking first place in the 200 meter freestyle in a time of 2:02.69.
Additional noteworthy performances:
- Sophomores
Nathan Viricochea and
Eddie McDonald finished 2-3 in the 800 meter freestyle, with times of 10:18.79 and 11:21.54, respectively.
- Sophomore
Jack Palmer came in second in the 100 meter breaststroke in 1:25.51, with first-year
Luke Bukowski taking third with 1:30.07.
- West took third in the 50 meter freestyle in 25.77.
- Sophomore
Stuart Reyes touched the wall in 1:07.19 in the 100 meter freestyle, which was good for third place.
- Senior captain
Tyler Strong finished third in the 200 meter backstroke in 2:35.07.
- Viricochea and Bukowski took second and third in the 200 meter breaststroke with times of 2:55.68 and 3:22.56, respectively.
- McDonald came in second in the 400 meter freestyle with a time of 5:22.02.
- Viricochea finished in second in the 200 meter IM in 2:37.50.
- The 400 meter freestyle relays came in second and third place. Strong, first-year
Brandon Bostic, Bukowski, and West took second in 4:04.77 while McDonald, first-year
Christian Taylor, Reyes, and Palmer finsihed in third with a 4:33.14.
UP NEXT
The men will return to the pool next Saturday, October 30 when they travel to Hampden-Sydney, VA to compete against the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
