Box Score LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team shutout the No. 22 Hornets from the University of Lynchburg 1-0 on Wednesday evening, October 13, at Lynchburg, VA. VWU improves to 6-4-1 overall and 5-0 in ODAC play taking the lead in the conference standings.

FIRST HALF

• The teams battled back and forth throughout the first half of action with Lynchburg holding a slight advantage in possession of the ball, but Virginia Wesleyan's Alexis Miller got a pass forward to Olivia Bryant in a one-on-one situation to score the goal with seven seconds remaining in the opening half. VWU took their 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

SECOND HALF

• Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the second half of play despite the Hornets taking 10 shots and allowing the Marlins six. The Marlins uprooted the No. 22 Hornets 1-0 and improved to 5-0 in ODAC play. 

KEY STATS

• Carleigh Van Reenen led the team with three shots of the teams seven total.
• Olivia Bryant recorded two shots in the match including the shot that produced the game winning goal just before halftime. 
• Rachel Quigley (W: 4-1-1) collected the win playing all 90 minutes in goal making two saves.
