Box Score GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The VWU women's basketball team fell to the Quakers of Guilford College 62-37 on Monday evening in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament in Greensboro, NC. The Marlins season comes to an end at 6-20 overall and 4-14 against ODAC foes while Guilford improves to 15-9 and 10-8.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The game began with neither team scoring a basket for the first three minutes of the game but the Quakers got on the board first on a jumper by Calyn Davis. Guilford went on a 6-0 run initiated by Davis' basket before Sabrina Jones got the Marlins on the board at the four minute mark. VWU came back in the final minutes of the opening quarter to tie the game at 10 al following a three-pointer from Jessica Jennings but a layup by the Quakers gave them a 12-10 lead heading into the second quarter.
The basket went cold for the Marlins in the second quarter as Virginia Wesleyan only scored eight points in the second ten-minutes of action while Guilford put 20 points on the board to lead 32-18 at the halftime horn.
Guilford opened the third quarter on a 13-3 run that put the score at 45-21 as the clock hit the 4:20 mark. The Marlins added seven more points the rest of the third as they entered the final frame of action trailing 53-28.
Both teams only found nine points in the fourth quarter though Guilford's lead was large enough that the Quakers took the victory 62-37 and advance to the ODAC semifinals later this week.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by Sabrina Jones with 15 points and seven rebounds. Logan Carter had the second most points at nine while Jessica Jennings and Sierra Coleman each tallied six.
GUILFORD LEADERS
The Quakers were led by Miracle Walters with 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Lindsay Gauldin was the second highest scoring Quaker with 13 points in the contest.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came in the second quarter when the Quakers outscored the Marlins 20-8 to lead 32-18 at the half.

VWU's season comes to a close with the loss in the quarterfinals to the Quakers. They will return to the Batten Center in the fall of 2020.
