Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Virginia - The VWU women's basketball team fell to the Eagles of Bridgewater College 77-47 on Wednesday evening in ODAC competition in Bridgewater, Va. The Marlins move to 5-12 overall and 3-7 in ODAC competition, while the Eagles are now 9-8 and 8-2.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The game began with Bridgewater scoring 19 points before Virginia Wesleyan found their first point off a free throw from Isis Moore at 3:51. The Marlins added six more points in the first quarter while the Eagles scored seven to lead 26-7 at the end of the first ten minutes. Both teams scored 11 points in the second quarter putting the score 35-18 at halftime with Bridgewater holding on to a 17-point lead.
The Eagles hit a three-pointer to open the third quarter to lead by 20 but VWU scored four points to close the gap to 16 following two free throws and a jumper. Bridgewaters lead grew to 26 points, 49-23, with 3:52 remaining in the third quarter. The Marlins scored just three more points to close out the third while the Eagles tallied 15 points putting the score at 64-26 heading into the final ten minutes.
Virginia Wesleyan scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, 17 coming from Sabrina Jones, but the effort fell short as the Eagles lead was too great for the Marlins to overcome as Bridgewater won 77-47.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by Sabrina Jones who scored 27 points after she went 6-of-12 from the field and 15-of-22 from the free-throw line. She also led the Marlins with nine rebounds.
BRIDGEWATER LEADERS
The Eagles were led by Ahlia Moone who scored 21 points coming off the bench. Madison Baum scored 10 points while Claire Mocarski led the Eagles with 10 rebounds.

The key moment of the game began right from the start when the Eagles opened a 19-0 lead through the first seven minutes of the game.
