Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest Against Maroons

Box Score

SALEM, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Roanoke Saturday afternoon on the road. With the result, the Marlins move to 4-2-2 on the year and 0-1 in conference action. Roanoke improves to 7-2-1 on the season (1-0-1).

It was a first half goal for the Maroons that would be the difference maker as Roanoke's Davis netted one just 6:10 into the contest. The home side then parked the bus as the Marlins finished with five shots on target compared to the Maroons one. Mia Meinhardt and Kennedi Anders both put shots on the opposing netminder in the dying minutes but were unable to force an overtime period.

Women's soccer will return to action again at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as the team travels to play Eastern Mennonite.
