Women's Swimming Collects Two Wins in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's swim team picked up a pair of wins in Greensboro, N.C. Saturday afternoon. The team coasted to a 157-25 win over host Greensboro while also posting a 155-47 win over Salem College.

Kara Young started the Marlins off with a win, taking first in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:28.43. Kiersten Lee added to that as she marked a 2:28.43 in the 100-yard back which was good enough for first overall. She would later take first in the 200yd back, breaking the Virginia Wesleyan record with a time of 2:25.34.

In the 100-yard breast, Lizzy Ross and Dana Smith were just .30 seconds apart as Ross claimed the top spot with a time of 1:15.58. That combo would each finish with wins in other races as Ross claimed first in the 100yd fly and Smith in the 200yd IM.

The Marlins also topped the field in both of the relay races beginning with the 200yd Medley. Jordan McCowan, Smith, Ross and Steffanie Ward combined for a 2:17.12, beating out the other Marlin relay by just over a second. Smith, Ward, Su Akar and Lee would then combine for a 2:07.16 in the 200yd free relay.

Women's swimming will return to action after the new year as the team will host Ferrum on January 11th.
