Virginia Beach, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team dropped a close match with Bridgewater College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Birdsong Field. With the result, the Marlins move to 3-7 on the season (0-1 ODACs). 

The Marlins outshot the Eagles 8-5, but it was the Eagles that struck first in the 57th minute of the game. The Marlins were not able to make a comeback as the Eagles came away with the victory. 

Field hockey returns to action at 5 PM on Wednesday as the team hosts Salisbury on Birdsong field.
