Men's Soccer Defeats Randolph in Homecoming Game

Box Score

Virginia Beach, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team picked up a win in their homecoming game as they took down Randolph College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 4-6 for the year and 2-0 in the conference.

The Marlins got on the board in the first half with a goal by Scott Singorelli in the 19th minute assisted by Shaun Brooks. The two teams were even throughout the match with the Marlins taking 6 shots compared to the Wildcats 5 shots. Solid defense by both teams in the second half kept the remainder of the game scoreless. However, it was the lone goal in the first half that was the difference maker in the win for the Marlins.

Griffin Potter was the keeper for the Marlins turning away both shots that the Wildcats had on goal.

Men's soccer returns to action against Hampden-Sydney Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Trinder Center.
