Virginia Wesleyan Men's Soccer had a great year with five Marlins being selected to the 2025 All-ODAC teams.
Zach Bittler and
Aaron Deans were awarded All-ODAC First Team,
Mason Wakefield and
Josh Nevins were recognized on Second Team All-Conference, and
Giovanni Zizza was selected for All-ODAC Third Team.
Zach Bittler had an impressive season, starting and playing all 18 games for the Marlins. Bittler led the Marlins with 9 goals, 4 assists, totaling 22 points, putting him second in the conference in that category. Bittler also had 2 winning goals for the Marlins this season and was a key part of the team's attack.
Aaron Deans played and started all 18 games for the Marlins at center back. Deans was a standout on the Marlins' defense, helping the team achieve a .78 scoring percentage by opponents.
Mason Wakefield played the season at center-midfield, helping the team offensively and defensively. Wakefield played 14-of-18 games for the Marlins, scoring 1 goal with 4 assists and contributing to the Marlins' impressive defense.
Josh Nevins started and played every game for the Marlins this year. Nevins spent the season center back, assisting the team with their skilled defense, which only allowed 14 goals scored by their opponents.
Giovanni Zizza aided the team at midfield this season, starting and playing all 18 games. Zizza supported the Marlins' defense as well as offense, scoring 2 goals and having an impressive 5 assists, placing him on the ODAC leaderboard.
