VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's swim team fell, 152-36, to Chowan University Saturday afternoon at home. Despite the loss, the swim team managed to clip a number of school records.
Chloe Dewberry had a solid outing as she finished the day with a pair of Virginia Wesleyan records. First, she lowered her own precedent in the 200-yard IM by nearly two seconds as she clocked a 2:32.73. She then touched the wall in 2:31.29 in the 200yd backstroke, lowering that record by four seconds.
Fellow first year Lizzy Ross also finished with a school record. The Sunbury, Pa. native clocked a 58.51 in the 100yd free, lowering that benchmark by three seconds.
In the relays, the Marlins displayed a quality race in the 200yd IM. Dewberry, Ross, Amanda Waller and Hannah Carmona combined for a time of 2:11.04, which was just a couple seconds shy of the school's top mark.
Women's swimming will be back in the pool on November 9th as the squad heads to Lynchburg, Va. for a tri meet with Lynchburg and Sweet Briar. That meet will be held at Liberty University.
