Men's Swimming Hindered by Hawks

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swim team fell, 135-45, to Chowan University Saturday afternoon at home.

Tyler Strong produced a couple of solid times throughout the day, overtaking one of his own school records as well. In the 200-yard freestyle, the sophomore clocked a 1:52.33 which set the new benchmark by just over a second. He would also take first in the 200yd backstroke as his time of 2:09.43 was just two seconds slower than his personal best.

In his first swim meet, Caleb Royce had an impressive outing. The sophomore took third in the 50yd free with a time of 23.19 before capturing another third place finish in the 100yd free with a time of 52.83.

Men's swimming will be back in the pool on November 9th as the squad heads to Lynchburg, Va. for a tri meet with Lynchburg and Sweet Briar. That meet will be held at Liberty University.
