Field Hockey Blanks Wesley with Second-Straight 2-0 Performance

Box Score

DOVER, Dela. – The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team earned its second shutout in as many games, blanking Wesley College 2-0 on the road Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 3-2 on the season while Wesley goes to 4-5.

It took almost no time for the Marlins to get on the board as Emily Price notched her fifth of the season. The transfer was hit by an Elizabeth Roberto pass as she swept through the slot. Price then turned and immediately shot it, slicing it through the goalie's legs.

The team would then double up its lead in the second half courtesy of Roberto. Julie Fassl got the play going as she ripped a shot to the goalies right. Roberto stopped the ball before it got to the goalie and was able to fire it around her for the insurance goal.

Skye Swain was not tested a whole lot but picked up her third win of the year as well as her third shutout.

Field hockey will return to the field at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the squad squares off against ODAC rival Eastern Mennonite.
