Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team dropped a contest to Washington and Lee, 73-45, Saturday afternoon on the road. With the loss, the Marlins go to 9-12 overall and .500 (6-6) in conference play. Washington and Lee improves to 13-7 on the season (7-5 ODAC).
Through one quarter of play, the Marlins found themselves behind only possession, thanks in part to five points from Ceci Billings off the bench. Virginia Wesleyan had a rocky second stanza though, only totaling six points. The slow second quarter put them in a deficit that was tough to make up, eventually costing the team a crucial conference game.
Reagan Holmes finished the day with a team-high 11 points, followed closely by Tiara Johnson's 10.
Jayla Harris and Jada Lewis both picked up the most boards for the visiting side as each came away with six. Harris also did well to distribute the ball as she tacked on four assists.
Women's basketball returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as the team travels to Randolph for a tilt with the Wildcats.
