Men Sweep Dual Meets

ROANOKE, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swimming team claimed its first dual meet victory in program history on Saturday, defeating Randolph College, 77-76, and Emory & Henry College, 111-38.

The Marlins had previously lost to Randolph in the first meet of the season, 125-39, showcasing a huge turnaround for VWU.

The men claimed multiple event victories on Saturday, including the 200 yard freestyle as Stephen Carlo won with a time of 2:07.23. Jake Morgan finished second with a 2:19.33.

VWU also earned a win in the 100 yard breaststroke as Kristian Rinkus touched the board in 1:11.90. Kyle Woolf finished second with a 1:19.02. Rinkus also won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.87.

Patrick McKneely rounded out the individual winners with a time of 23:49.00 in the 1650 yard freestyle. The relay squad of Carlo, Rinkus, Daniel Roberts, and Woolf won the 400 yard medley relay with a 4:28.65.

Virginia Wesleyan will travel to the Washington and Lee Invitational on the weekend of December 2.
