Box Score Marlins Complete Weekend with 2-0 Win over SU
SALISBURY, Md. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College women's soccer team scored a goal in each half Sunday to defeat Salisbury University 2-0 in non-conference action.
The Marlins started the scoring at the 24:37 mark when Brooke Adamchak took a free kick from outside the box that was finished off by Annie Hartman for the game's initial score.
The defense made the lead last as the Marlins have now allowed just one goal in their last four matches.
Virginia Wesleyan scored a final tally in the second half as Marli Hayward ripped a shot from 22 yards out that sailed over the keeper's head and into the goal for her team-leading third score of the season.
Shots were even in the first half, but VWC took a 9-2 edge in the second half to lead 15-8 for the game. Corner kicks were even at one.
Hope Knussman made six saves for Salisbury (2-3-3) while Taylor Chapman made four saves for Virginia Wesleyan.
Virginia Wesleyan (4-3/1-0) hosts No. 8 Lynchburg College (6-0-1/1-0) Wednesday at 7 p.m. for an ODAC contest.
