Box Score Guinto Goals Lead Neumann Past Marlins 2-0
ASTON, Pa. -- Becky Guinto scored both goals in Sunday's contest as Neumann University defeated the Virginia Wesleyan College field hockey team in non-conference action.
Neither team had tremendous control over the first half as Neumann outshot the Marlins 9-5, but the Marlins had four penalty corners, compared to one by Neumann.
The first half advantage came from Guinto, who scored at the 31:23, just before the first half ended, to take a slim 1-0 lead into halftime.
Guinto struck in the second half as well, scoring at 49:19 off a Julia Mustin assist.
Neumann held a 15-13 advantage in shots on the afternoon while the Marlins controlled the penalty corners, taking 15 to just three from Neumann.
Skye Swain made five saves while Caitlyn Hogge tallied a defensive stop. Caitlyn Johnson had eight saves for Neumann (3-1).
Virginia Wesleyan (1-2) hosts Ferrum College (0-3) Thursday at 5 p.m.
