Marlins Advance to Semis with Win over Lynchburg

NORFOLK, Va. -- The VWC men's tennis team advanced to the ODAC semifinals with a 5-0 win over Lynchburg College on Sunday at the Folkes Stevens Tennis Center at Old Dominion University. The Marlins entered Sunday's ODAC quarterfinal as the No. 1 seed, a first for the men's tennis program.

In doubles action, the Marlins came out strong taking all three positions 8-2, 8-0 and 8-2 respectively.

With VWC up 3-0 heading into singles, the Marlins only needed two singles wins to clinch the match, which is played to decision per ODAC tournament rules.  It did not take long for a Marlins clinch.  Sophomore Adam Rosemblaum captured point number four with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lynchburg's Andrew Link.  Soon thereafter senior team captain Drew Tomajczyk finished a match-clinching 6-0, 6-0 win over Dom Gutierrez.

The Marlins advance to the ODAC semifinals to face the No. 4 seed Randolph-Macon College.  Match time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at host Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA.
