Marlins Win a Pair of Sunday Matches

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Marlins won their first and second matches of the season against Guilford College and Penn St. Abington in a double-header 8-1, and 7-2, respectively, on Sunday afternoon.

Improving the team's season record to 2-1, junior Kenny Downing and senior Tyler Chang were a very impressive duo with a clean 8-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles position against Guilford. 

The tandem of Graham Wilson and Adam Rosemblaum at No. 1 doubles as well as Drew Tomajczyk and Brendan Kelleher both won by same tally of 8-4 against Guilford. The Marlins were also dominant in the singles fixtures, winning five of the six contests. Tomajczyk battled back from being down 6-0, 3-6, 2-5 to win 7-6 in the third set tiebreaker in exhaustive fashion.

 In the night match, the Marlins were solid again winning in a convincing manner 7-2. Jake Morgan captured a victory 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 singles spot, his first of the season. 

The Marlins return to action next Saturday against NAIA Fairmont State.
