Marlins Start Road Trip with 8-1 Loss to Methodist
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College men's tennis team took on ranked Methodist University on Friday afternoon in Fayetteville, NC on its way to Hilton Head, SC for the Marlins' annual spring break tennis trip.
In doubles action, Methodist pressured the Marlins right from the start. At No. 1 doubles Graham Wilson and Adam Rosemblaum fell to Howard and Clement 8-2. No. 2 and No. 3 fell 8-3 and 8-2 respectively.
Heading into singles the Marlins were forced to remove No. 2 Kenny Downing who suffered an injury during doubles play and No. 3, Rosemblaum, who was recovering from illness. The Marlins fought hard at each position but were only able to claim No. 1 singles where senior Graham Wilson took out RJ Clement 7-5, 7-5 in a tough contest.
