Marlins Shut Out Guilford in Pink on the Pitch Game

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College women's soccer team scored once in each half to defeat Guilford College 2-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday. The game was the team's annual Pink on the Pitch game with proceeds from tickets and merchandise going to breast cancer research.

Senior Amanda Baxter scored the first goal of her career at 26:32 to give the Marlins the first-half lead over the Quakers. Brooke Adamchak took a corner, sending it into the box where Baxter could head it home.

The Marlins added another score with less than four minutes left in the match as Guilford mishandled a ball in the box, resulting in an own goal.

Maggie Albert made six saves for Guilford (5-6/2-4) while Taylor Chapman stopped two shots for the Marlins.

Virginia Wesleyan (7-4-2/4-0-2) travels to Bridgewater College (10-2-1/3-1-1) Wednesday for an ODAC contest at 4 p.m.
