Marlins Stay Perfect in ODAC Play with 2-0 Win over EMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College women's soccer team held Eastern Mennonite University without a shot in Wednesday's 2-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) shutout.

The Marlins and Royals fought through a scoreless game until the 38th minute when Annie Hartman took a shot that was saved by a leaping Becca Borg. Brittany Wentzel was in the perfect spot to tap the carom back into the net for the game's initial score.

VWC netted another score in the second half when Madison Atkins attempted a cross that found the upper right corner.

Virginia Wesleyan held an impressive 25-0 advantage in shots and a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.

Borg finished with 13 saves for Eastern Mennonite (1-8/0-2 ODAC). Wheeler played all 90 minutes in goal for the Marlins.

Virginia Wesleyan (6-5/4-0) host Emory & Henry College (2-6-2/0-2-1) on Saturday at 11 a.m. The ODAC contest will be part of Homecoming festivities for the weekend.
