LYNCHBURG, Va. -- A waiting game begins for the Virginia Wesleyan College women's soccer team.

A 1-0 loss to the host Hornets of Lynchburg College Saturday puts the Marlins in a "wait-and-see" situation as far as the rest of the season is concerned.  VWC, which owns an 18-3 record and has been ranked nationally most of the season, is in a position to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III championship tournament.  Those bids will go out at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7.  VWC's women have competed in six consecutive NCAA tournaments and in seven in the past eight years.

Lynchburg (19-2-1), which won its 10th ODAC title in the past 15 years, scored its only goal on a long shot by Brittany Klippstein in the 35th minute of the first half.  The Hornets continued to after the goal, posting a lopsided 23-2 advantage in shots, but could not find a break in the VWC defense.

Sophomore goalieEric Keil (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic) came up big for the Marlins, recording nine saves. 

The shutout was the 16th of the season for Lynchburg, which has allowed only seven goals all season, including one to VWC in a 2-1 Hornet win during the regular season at Lynchburg.

Keil was named to the 11-person All-Tournament team, along with junior Bre Ingargiola (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) and Krista Witmer (Lancaster, Pa./Millersville).
