Virginia Wesleyan Women’s Tennis Rolls to Convincing Win Over Roanoke

The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered a strong all-around performance, defeating Roanoke by taking five of six singles matches after sweeping doubles play to secure the victory.

The Marlins set the tone early in doubles action, capturing all three flights. At No. 1 doubles, Mikisha Thomas and Jette Dammeier earned a solid 6-4 win over Roanoke's Lia Streibich and Bella Gustafson. The No. 2 pairing of Tuva Flink and Jette Hafermann followed with a convincing 6-2 victory against Raygan Wade and Camryn Breedlove. Rounding out the sweep, Zoe Vliegen and Lexi Hackbirth dominated at No. 3 doubles with a 6-1 win over Victoria Rios and Kaleigh Menefee.

With momentum on their side, the Marlins carried their success into singles play. Tuva Flink led the way at the top spot, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win over Bella Gustafson. Zoe Vliegen added another point at No. 2 singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Lia Streibich.

Roanoke picked up its lone point at No. 3 singles, where Raygan Wade defeated Mikisha Thomas 7-5, 6-0.

Virginia Wesleyan quickly regained control across the remaining courts. Jette Hafermann was dominant at No. 4 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-2 win over Victoria Rios. Lexi Hackbirth delivered one of the most decisive performances of the day at No. 5, blanking Morgan Tobey 6-0, 6-0. Jette Dammeier closed out the match in style at No. 6 singles, defeating Camryn Breedlove 6-0, 6-1.
