The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 6-1 victory over Guilford College in a home matchup.
The Marlins set the tone early in doubles play, taking two of the three flights to secure the opening point. At No. 2 doubles, Tuva Flink and Jette Hafermann cruised to a convincing 6-2 win over Ashley Belnap and Chandler Sizemore. The momentum continued at No. 3, where Zoe Vliegen and Lexi Hackbirth matched that 6-2 scoreline, defeating McKenna Merritt and Brooke Tsuei. Guilford's lone doubles win came at the top spot, as Carolina Dirk and Erika Mendez topped Jette Dammeier and Mikisha Thomas, 6-2.
Leading 1-0 heading into singles, Virginia Wesleyan left little doubt the rest of the way, winning five of six matches in straight sets. Zoe Vliegen quickly evened the match at No. 2 singles with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ashley Belnap. Mikisha Thomas followed with a flawless showing at No. 3, shutting out Chandler Sizemore 6-0, 6-1.
Jette Hafermann continued the strong play at No. 4 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-2 win over McKenna Merritt, while Lexi Hackbirth controlled her match at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Brooke Tsuei. Jette Dammeier capped the Marlins' singles success at No. 6, dominating Amy Soto Salgado 6-1, 6-0.
Guilford's only point came at the top singles position, where Carolina Dirk defeated Tuva Flink 6-0, 6-1.
