The Virginia Wesleyan Marlins men's lacrosse team improved to 8-2 on the season with a dominant 25-1 victory over Randolph on Wednesday afternoon, March 25, in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Marlins continued their strong campaign with one of their most complete performances of the year, moving to 2-1 in ODAC play.
Virginia Wesleyan was led offensively by
Zachary Dupill, who recorded four goals to pace the Marlins.
Keagan Hall added three goals and multiple assists, while
Ethan Smith and
Anthony Blackburn each contributed three goals.
Thomas Lewis IV added two goals and several assists, and
Logan Czerwinski,
Tyler Drane, and
Cooper Seidner each tallied two goals in the win.
The Marlins wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. Hall opened the scoring and continued to orchestrate the offense early, helping Virginia Wesleyan build momentum and control possession throughout the opening period.
Virginia Wesleyan extended its lead in the second quarter with another strong stretch, adding five more goals. Dupill and Blackburn each found the back of the net, while Lewis IV and
James Coffin contributed as the Marlins carried a commanding 10-0 advantage into halftime.
The Marlins broke the game wide open in the third quarter, erupting for 10 goals. Hall, Dupill, and Smith led the charge during the explosive frame, while the offense continued to click with efficient passing and strong finishing to push the lead to 20-1.
Virginia Wesleyan carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, adding five more goals to close out the victory. Czerwinski, Drane,
Carlton Benton Jr., and
Ryan Mathers each contributed in the final period as the Marlins maintained control from start to finish.
The Virginia Wesleyan Marlins men's lacrosse team will travel to Danville, Virginia, to take on Averett University in an ODAC matchup on Saturday, March 28. Faceoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM. The Marlins will look to build on their 25-1 victory over Randolph as they continue conference play.
