Virginia Wesleyan Women's Tennis earned a 6-1 team victory over visiting Elizabeth City State University at the Everett Tennis Center.
The Marlins set the tone early by taking two of the three doubles matches. Jette Dammeier and Mikisha Thomas picked up a decisive 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while the No. 3 duo of Jette Hafermann and Lexi Hackbirth earned a win by default. Despite a hard-fought battle at No. 1 doubles, Tuva Flink and Zoe Vliegen fell 6-3 to ECSU's top pairing of Reichel Freytes and Nadhira Durham.
In singles play, Virginia Wesleyan was dominant, claiming five of six matches. At the top spot, Flink delivered a commanding 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Freytes. Hafermann followed with a strong 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2, and Meena Lennon outlasted Micah Williams 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4.
Sarah Reich cruised past Kennedy Rollins 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and Dammeier added a second point to her day with a win by default at No. 6. The lone point for ECSU came at No. 3 singles, where Marley Renner edged Hackbirth in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-1.
