The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team (15-6, 10-2 ODAC) took home a 79-52 victory on the road against Randolph.
Amari Moorer led the offense with 23 points, shooting 11-for-16 from the field, 1-for-2 from the free throw line, 11 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and two assists.
Omari DeVeaux scored 19 points, shooting 7-for-14 from the field, 2-for-6 from deep, and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe, one rebound, five assists, and two steals.
Paul Anderson scored 12 points, shooting 5-for-10 from the field, 2-for-5 from three-point territory, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
The Marlins started the game well and jumped out to a 5-2 lead at the 17:39 mark in the first half. Randolph rallied and went on a 9-5 run to take an 11-10 lead with 10:55 left in the first half. Virginia Wesleyan responded with an 11-1 run to hold a 21-12 lead with seven minutes left in the half.
Over the next four minutes of the game, the Wildcats outscored the Marlins 8-6 to cut the lead to 27-20. VWU finished out the half with a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 31-20 heading into the break.
Coming out of the break, the Marlins went on a 14-4 run to increase their advantage 45-24 at the 15:28 mark in the second half. Randolph countered with an 11-4 run to cut the lead to 49-35 with 12:19 left in the game, but Virginia Wesleyan responded with an 8-1 run to lead 57-36 at the 10:02 mark.
Over the next three minutes, VWU outscored the host 9-7 to bring the score to 66-43. The Marlins continued their strong play with a 7-2 run to increase their healthy lead to 73-45 with 3:10 left in the game. Randolph tried to chip away at the lead in the final three minutes, but only managed to outscore the Marlins 7-6, and VWU went on to win the game 79-52.
