The Virginia Wesleyan University women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Jette Haferman got the first win of the year for the Marlins as she won 8-3 against Olivia Hall. Haferman moved to the quarterfinals, where she fell to Anika Joshi 8-2.
Zoe Vliegen played on Saturday against Sarah Donnelly and lost 8-1, while teammate
Tuva Flink played Jay Xiao from Johns Hopkins, falling 8-0.
In the consolation bracket,
Zoe Vliegen rebounded from the day one loss as she came out on top with a battle against Evelyn Snyder from Mary Washington in an 8-6 win. With the win, Vliegen moved on to the round of 16, where she narrowly fell to Atlee Hilliard from Shenandoah in an 8-7 loss with the tiebreaker score of 7-4.
Tuva Flink had a competitive match on day two, falling to CNU's Emma Carver 8-3.
For doubles play, the duo of
Meena Lennon and
Mikisha Thomas dropped a hard fought match 6-2 to the team from Dickinson College. On Sunday, Lennon / Thomas came out hot, winning their match against the Shenandoah doubles opponents, 6-2.
