The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (6-2-1, 1-1-0 ODAC) earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bridgewater College (7-2-0, 1-1-0 ODAC) Saturday night at Foster Field at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach, Va.
In the first half, Virginia Wesleyan responded quickly after conceding an early goal, with
Kaylyn Seitz scoring her third goal of the season in the 19th minute to even the match. The Marlins created several other opportunities and kept the game tightly contested heading into the break, with goalkeeper
Allie Greco making a key save to keep the score level.
The second half remained competitive until the 81st minute, when
Shyenne Diaz converted a pass from Seitz to give the Marlins the go-ahead goal and secure the victory. Greco finished the game with two saves to help preserve the win.
With the victory, Virginia Wesleyan improves to 6-2-1 overall. The Marlins return to action on Tuesday, September 30, at 4:00 p.m. at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va.
