DJ Holsclaw recorded her third win of the season. She played 60 minutes, allowed three goals, and tallied seven saves.
The Marlins got on the board early, setting the tone in the opening period. Virginia Wesleyan controlled possession with six shots compared to Meredith's two, applying steady pressure on the Avenging Angels' defense. That pressure paid off at the 12:52 mark when
Clair Wagner finished off a setup from
Landry Meyer, putting VWU ahead 1-0. Goalkeeper

Virginia Wesleyan continued to press offensively in the second quarter, recording nine shots and earning three penalty corners. The persistence led to another breakthrough late in the frame when Meyer found the cage unassisted at the 29:18 mark, doubling the Marlins' advantage. Meredith was limited to just two shots in the period, both of which were handled by the VWU defense and Holsclaw. At halftime, the Marlins carried a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The pace of the match shifted after halftime, as both teams found their way into the scoring column. Virginia Wesleyan extended its lead to 3-0 when
Lauren Kite scored unassisted just over five minutes into the quarter. However, Meredith responded quickly as the Avenging Angels scored at the 43:03 mark, trimming the deficit to 3-1. The intensity rose as Meredith outshot VWU 7–5 in the quarter, forcing Holsclaw to make two saves to maintain the Marlins' advantage.
The final 15 minutes brought high drama as Meredith surged to tie the game. The Avenging Angels capitalized on a strong offensive push, scoring twice in less than two minutes to knot the score at 3-3. Just four seconds later, VWU was hit with a green card issued to
Dani Poulsen, putting the Marlins temporarily down a player. Despite the setback, Virginia Wesleyan responded with resilience. Meyer delivered again for the Marlins, burying the game-winner at 55:38 to make it 4-3. Holsclaw came up with three saves in the closing minutes to deny Meredith's comeback and sealed the victory.
