The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team (3-1-1) defeated Salisbury 2-1 on the road.
Janessa Lowe led the offense as she tallied a goal and an assist and Alexis Manfredi scored the game-winning goal.
Allie Greco stood tall in net as she improved her record to 3-1-1, played all 90 minutes, had three saves, and allowed in one goal on a penalty kick.
The Marlins broke through in the 23rd minute when Janessa Lowe buried a shot into the net off an assist from Emma Nguyen, giving VWU the early advantage. Just nine minutes later, in the 32nd minute, Lowe turned playmaker, setting up Alexis Manfredi for the Marlins' second goal of the night.
With a 2–0 lead, Virginia Wesleyan looked firmly in control, outshooting Salisbury 16–12 and creating five shots on goal compared to the Sea Gulls' four.
Salisbury pulled one back late in the second half to cut the deficit in half, but VWU's defense stayed composed and refused to let the equalizer through. The Marlins' goalkeeper came up with three key saves while the back line stood tall against 12 Salisbury shots.
