The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team (5-8, 3-2 ODAC) faced Hardin-Simmons University in non-conference play, losing 6-2.
Freshmen,
Natan Aerts and
Josh Buckland debuted in doubles as Aerts paired with
Hovo Madanyan at #2 and Buckland teamed up with
Sebastien Muller at #3. The Marlins came up short in doubles, losing 6-3 at the top two spots and 6-2 at #3.
Hardin-Simmons claimed straight set victories at lines one, two, five, and six.
Sebastien Muller fought back after losing the first set to Zach Fowler at #3, winning the second 6-1; but Muller was unable to close out the match as he fell 7-5 in the third set.
Capturing the lone Marlin victory of the day was
Hovo Madanyan at #4 over Maddux Foster in three close sets, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Men's tennis will return to competition in an away match against Roanoke College on Friday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m.
