The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (10-8, 7-3 ODAC) zoomed to a 4-0 victory over Shenandoah University to clinch a spot in the ODAC Semifinals for the first time since 2021. The match was played to a decision in accordance with tournament standards.
Zoe Vliegen and
Mikisha Thomas won 6-3 over Allison Cherwien and Erin Talko at #2 doubles; and
Lina Hackner and
Sarah Reich defeated Kendra Gillete and Leigha Montrief on court three to secure the doubles point in the Marlins' favor.
Sarah Reich made quick work of her opponent at the fifth line of singles without dropping a game; and
Jette Hafermann also won 6-0, 6-0 at #4 to put the Marlins up 3-0.
Mikisha Thomas clinched the match for VWU at #6 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Leigha Montrief.
The #4 Marlins are set to face #1 Washington and Lee on Saturday, May 3 at 8:30 a.m. in Lexington, Virginia.
