The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (10-9, 7-3 ODAC) competed against No. 39 Washington and Lee in the ODAC Semifinals and lost 4-0.
The Generals clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 win at #1 over
Tuva Flink and
Jette Hafermann and a 6-2 victory at the second spot over
Mikisha Thomas and
Zoe Vliegen.
Lina Hackner performed well in the first set at #3 singles, falling 6-3 to Grace Lorenz and found herself down 5-1 in the second set; but Washington and Lee claimed straight set victories on courts one, two, and four over
Tuva Flink,
Zoe Vliegen, and
Jette Hafermann respectively to seal the 4-0 win.
The women's tennis team was listed sixth in the preseason ODAC rankings, and they have ended the season in fourth place. With four freshmen and two sophomores in the starting lineup, the Marlins had a tremendous season and look forward to building on their success next season.
