The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (3-5, 1-2 ODAC) competed against non-conference opponent, Oberlin College. Despite close matches at every spot in the lineup, the Marlins fell to the Yeowomen 6-1. 
Doubles play was highly contested, but Oberlin edged past the Marlins on all three courts to claim the doubles point. At #2, 
Lina Hackner and 
Meena Lennon fell 6-3. 
Mikisha Thomas and 
Zoe Vliegen were unable to maintain their lead and lost 6-4 at the third position. At the top spot, 
Tuva Flink and 
Jette Hafermann fought hard but came up just short against their opponents in a tiebreaker. 
First to finish in singles was 
Sarah Reich, who secured the lone Marlin win of the day at #6 with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory over Olivia Wollner. 
Lina Hackner and 
Tuva Flink were next to finish with losses at #4 and #1 respectively to put Oberlin ahead 3-1 overall. 
Clinching the match for the Yeowomen was Freya Rahm over 
Meena Lennon with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory. 
At #5, 
Jette Hafermann battled back after losing the first set 6-2 to win the second by a score of 6-3; but despite her strong comeback, her opponent closed out the match 7-5 in the third set. 
Zoe Vliegen was last to finish, falling in two extremely close sets to Rachel Allen 7-6 (7), 7-5 to give the Yeowomen the 6-1 win. 
The Marlins will return to ODAC competition on Sunday, March 30 at 1 p.m. against Shenandoah University at home.
