The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team (3-6, 2-1 ODAC) hosted the University of Lynchburg for an ODAC match, refusing to drop a set against the Hornets in their 7-0 sweep.
In doubles play, the Marlins won 6-3 at all three positions to claim the doubles point. Debuting in the doubles lineup this season was
Sainandan Challagundla with
Tudor Vlad at #3.
In singles play,
Sebastien Muller raced to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #4 over Sebastian Sierra and was closely followed by
Francis Cabaddu, who won by the same score at #3. Clinching the match at the sixth line was
Hovo Madanyan with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Jorge Zepeda. Both Rullan Zarraga twins dropped only three games in total against their opponents with
Carlos Rullan Zarraga winning 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and
Rafael Rullan Zarraga winning 6-3, 6-0 at #2. Last to finish was
Tudor Vlad at the top of the lineup with a 6-2, 6-3 over Luca Morbioli to round out the 7-0 victory.
The Marlins will return to competition tomorrow at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 23 against non-conference opponent, Centre College.
