Brandon Drewry led the Marlins' offense as he went 2-for-3 with a triple, and one RBI, and
Clay Clarke was 1-for-4 with a double.
Nick Beatty pitched 3.0 innings and allowed two hits, one run, and zero earned runs.
Zach Miller came in relief and pitched 2.0 innings, allowed zero hits, and zero runs, and tallied two strikeouts.
The game saw Randolph-Macon take an early lead in the third inning when they scored one unearned run. They added two runs to their lead in the fourth inning, to increase their lead to 3-0.
Virginia Wesleyan fought back in the seventh when
Josh Goodrich worked a walk and was replaced by pinch runner
Joey Leoni. Next,
Brandon Drewry tripled down the right-field line, scoring
Joey Leoni to trim the deficit to 3-1.
However, Randolph-Macon responded in the eighth inning with two more runs to extend the lead to 5-1.
Virginia Wesleyan managed one more run in the ninth, as
Nick Sylvester pinch hit and worked a walk, but was pinch ran for
Cliff Ewell. Pinch hitter
Toby Rhodes singled up the middle to advance Ewell to third. Followed by a sacrifice fly to right field by Garett Cockerille that scored
Cliff Ewell, but the rally wasn't enough, and Randolph-Macon secured the 5-2 victory.
