The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (1-1. 0-1 ODAC) hosted Division II opponent, Shippensburg University, for a scrimmage, winning 7-0.
Tuva Flink and
Jette Hafermann teamed up at #1 and dominated their opponents 6-1. At #2,
Lina Hackner and
Meena Lennon clinched the doubles point for the Marlins by the same score. At the third spot,
Mikisha Thomas and
Zoe Vliegen wrapped doubles play with a 6-3 win to send the Marlins into singles play with confidence.
Jette Hafermann was first to finish with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ava Kalist at #5. Next to finish was
Lina Hackner, winning 6-0, 6-2 at #4.
Zoe Vliegen clinched the win for the Marlins winning by the same score as Hackner at the second line of singles.
Next to finish was
Meena Lennon at #3, followed by
Sarah Reich at #6, who won by scores of 6-0, 6-4 and 7-5, 6-2 respectively.
Tuva Flink solidified the Marlin victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #1 singles over Corrinne Markovich to conclude play.
Next, the women will travel to Pennsylvania to face Bryn Mawr College on Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m.
