Rullan Zarraga Twins Find Doubles Success in Team Loss to Haverford

The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team traveled to Fredericksburg, Virginia to begin their weekend campaign, first facing Haverford College. The Marlins competed well in doubles, but ultimately Haverford won cleanly in singles, winning 7-0 overall.

In doubles competition, the twin duo of Rafael and Carlos Rullan Zarraga fought hard at #2 and came out victorious in a tiebreaker. 

Hovo Madanyan and Sebastien Muller fell just short at the top spot, losing 6-4 to James McKenzie and Justin Minerva. Haverford also won at line three over Tudor Vlad and Frieso ter Schiphorst by a score of 6-3, which gave them the doubles point.

In singles play, Rafael Rullan Zarraga played a close first set against his opponent, James McKenzie, at #2, but ultimately lost 6-4, 6-0. Haverford won in straight sets at all singles positions to give them the 7-0 win.

Tomorrow, the Marlins will face the University of Mary Washington with start time set at 1 p.m.
